Mary: Hi, everybody! This is Mary.

Julie: And this is Julie.

Mary: And you’re listening to The High Priestess Hype Club.

Julie: Hey everyone! Welcome to another episode of The High Priestess Hype Club. We’re so excited to have you here. Thank you for listening, whether you’re just stumbling upon us or you’re a weekly listener. We’d love for you to be weekly, but we’re just happy you’re here!

Mary: We’re just glad people are listening.

Julie: Absolutely! So, Mary, we talked about this episode being about burning the magical candle at both ends.

Mary: Yes, because there’s a lot happening in the world right now.

Julie: There really is. And we’re going to talk about Mercury retrograde in another episode, but usually, it makes us slow down. However, for the rest of the year, when we don’t have Mercury retrograde, we’re often running around a lot. I think that's true for many people, right?

Mary: Definitely. If you're burning your magical candle at both ends, how do you slow yourself down? Sometimes, I don't know about you, Julie, but I'm not very good at this. My body eventually forces me to slow down, like oversleeping or catching a cold.

Julie: Exactly! Or you just have to be laid out for a day. We’ve talked about intentional rest in some of our other shows, but sometimes it's hard to find time for that. How do you find a moment in your day to slow down or take a minute for yourself?

Mary: Julie and I were discussing this off-air because we both need it a lot. Sometimes one of us will remind the other about something, like I'll tell Julie, "Hey, there's a new moon coming up," or she’ll remind me, "We have a full moon, we should do something." It's like, oh yeah, that's right!

Julie: Exactly. It’s about being good to yourself and giving yourself a break. Sometimes, you want to follow the moon phases or do certain things, but you have to give yourself some slack if you can't do everything. It’s okay!

Mary: Right! And thinking about the moon phases as an example, that’s a magical thing we want to do. If we miss it this month, we can find another time to do something with it. Having that accountability partner, like we do for body doubling, helps a lot.

Julie: Yes! Body doubling is something I’ve been doing without knowing the term. It's really helpful when you have a task you don’t want to do. Just having someone else there, even if they’re doing their own thing, can make a huge difference. It helps me stay focused and get things done.

Mary: Absolutely. It's one way of preventing burning the magical candle at both ends. We’re all tired, and sometimes life is just too much. You need someone there to support you.

Julie: Exactly! And there are times when, even if you're trying to take intentional rest or a day off, things still pile up. Like last week, I took a day off for my mental health, but I ended up dealing with an emergency with my cat, then my neighbor accidentally hit my car. It was one thing after another. Sometimes, life just stacks up, and you have to figure out how to handle it.

Mary: Totally! And sometimes, when you're burning the candle at both ends, you have to prioritize and be okay with not doing everything. It’s about finding that balance.

Julie: Yeah, and you know what? Even when things don’t go as planned, you have to remind yourself it’s okay. It’s all about doing what you can, when you can, and being gentle with yourself.

Mary: Exactly. Doing something, even if it’s small, is better than nothing. Just finding a way to do something for yourself, whether it’s a 15-minute walk or lighting a candle, makes a big difference.

Julie: For sure! It’s about balancing all the different parts of yourself—spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional. Don’t neglect any part of you.

Mary: That’s so true. And sometimes, even when you feel like you don’t have the time, making time for these small things can make everything else seem more manageable.

Julie: Absolutely. And it’s also important to have someone to vent to or share with. It’s all part of maintaining that balance and avoiding burnout.

Mary: Yes, having a support system is key. And remembering to have fun, even if it’s on a school night, can be just as important as resting.

Julie: Definitely. It’s all about balance. So take care of yourselves, everyone! Find those moments to rest and rejuvenate.

Mary: Thanks for listening, and we’ll catch you next time on The High Priestess Hype Club!

Julie: Bye, everyone!
